Note about WinCMD 3.4 on Windows 3.1: This is NOT the PC Magazine WinCMD!!! I was using the name looong before PC Mag (WinCMD 1.0 was ported from Windows 2.01 in 1989), so I kept it out of general principals. For troubleshooting, see the file TRBLSHT.TXT. For previous users, the following are the major changes in Version 3: 1. Fixed Font. This solves the tabbing problem. 2. File Type Icons. 3. Double speed 32-bit copying (if you are using 32-bit disk access). 4. Uses Registration Database for "Run App" function. 5. Back to 16 bit so will run on ALL windows systems. 6. Defaults to STRICT=NO mode. 7. Variable width "dir /w". 8. Uses IOCTL in a Virtual DOS Machine instead of INT 24, so will work on all windows machines, including Tandys and Compaqs. 9. Supports Dropped Files from the File Manager (and Norton Desktop). 10. Due to popular demand, now supports "&" copies. 11. Font can be changed. 12. Uses full path in autolaunch. 13. Includes all standard windows networking features. 14. More DOS commands supported. For New Users, these are the major features: 1. Full CLI interface. 2. Runs great under NT (no extended filenames, however). 3. UNIX like process control. 4. Super fast copying with coice of DOS type copy readout, or windows Gas Guage readout. 5. Multiple Instance Compatible for operating several copies at once. 6. Full OOPS programming. 7. Full DDE cold link interface (See Help File). 8. Complete DOS like environment control (something sadly lacking from windows Program Manager, although NT has it). 9. Full Norton NDOS DESCRIBE compatibility. 10.Built in File decompression with copying. 11.File Redirection Coming Soon: 1. IOCTL Disk Formatting (being debugged) 2. Possible MDI interface (still thinking about this one) 3. Toolbar or Menu (I havn't decided yet) 4. Smaller Executable, as soon as I figure out multiple instances on the Microsoft Visual C++ Compiler so that background copies will work. - Erik Gawtry Compuserve: 72643,2120 MajorNet: Erik Gawtry@PCL P.S. Many thanks to all of the critiquers who pointed out the bugs in the program... Especially the screen resizing. I appreciate your input.
